Ogun State Police Command intercepts tanker with stolen fuel, one suspect arrested

The Ogun State Police Command says its operatives attached to Sagamu Division intercepted a truck loaded with vandalised Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Sagamu area of the state on December 27, Channelstv reports.

A press statement by the spokesman for the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the Police operatives acted on a tip-off which led to the arrest of one of the vandals named Elochukwu Byron. However, other suspects escaped.

According to Mr. Adejobi, the suspect and the exhibits would be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, in Eleweran Abeokuta, for further investigation on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Abdulmajid Ali.

Mr Ali has also put all officers and men of the command on their toes to make sure that pipelines and installations are adequately protected, particularly during a period of fuel crisis like the one being witnessed across Nigeria.

The Commissioner warned that many of the hoodlums would want to seize the opportunity to perpetrate their criminal act of economic sabotage.
